Trump's First 100 Days: A Presidency the Media Can't Spin into Failure

After the first hundred days of Donald J. Trump's second term as the 47th President of the United States have passed, the political opposition and global interest media try to paint it as if his presidency had already failed. If you listen to The New York Times, CNN, or their European counterparts like The Guardian or Der Spiegel, you’d think the country is on the brink of collapse. But nothing could be further from the truth.

In striking contrast to the four years of drift, decline, and dysfunction under Joe Biden—about which the same dishonest legacy media outlets kept mostly silent—, Trump has already made significant headway on the key issues that propelled him back into the White House: securing the border, revitalizing the economy, restoring energy independence, and confronting the cultural rot that had taken hold in American institutions.

The united Left both in the US and Europe can’t come to terms with the most dramatic conservative counter-revolution the MAGA movement has launched under President Trump’s leadership, basically reviving a political upheaval that had started in Mr. Trump’s first term and now continuing in a more systematic and professional way.

From day one, President Trump acted decisively to restore order to the southern border, reversing Biden-era policies that had effectively opened the floodgates to millions of unvetted migrants. Biden’s border policy was a catastrophe: over six million illegal crossings that caused sanctuary cities buckling under the weight of unmanaged immigration and triggered a largely ignored humanitarian and security crisis. Today, under Trump, illegal crossings have plummeted, cartels are on the run, and for the first time in years, the rule of law is being reasserted at the border.

Ending the Reign of Woke

Perhaps one of the most underreported and deliberately misrepresented victories of Trump’s early presidency has been his decisive stand against the woke ideology that has infected corporations, schools, and government agencies. Within weeks, Trump signed executive orders barring federal funding for DEI programs that promote racial essentialism and division. He defunded radical gender ideology in education, banned it from federal training sessions and determined by executive order that “sex” is immutably defined by biological classification as either male or female and determined by reproductive anatomy.

These moves were predictably labeled “fascist” or “anti-democratic” by the legacy press. But for millions of Americans—and indeed, for many Europeans cheering from across the Atlantic—they marked a long-overdue reassertion of reason over ideological madness.

From merit, occupational proficiency and character replacing affirmative action and gender identities in government hiring to protecting children from irreversible medical procedures pushed under the banner of “gender affirmation,” Trump is waging a cultural battle that forces of sanity are hoping he will win as DEI and radical gender politics have done little to create a more just society, but undertook much to divide, confuse, and demoralize one.

Economic Stability

Trump’s first 100 days have already begun to stabilize an economy ravaged by inflation, high interest rates, and bureaucratic overreach. By establishing DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) under the leadership of Elon Musk, the administration focused on eliminating “Waste, Fraud, and Abuse” within the federal government. As of early May 2025, DOGE claims to have achieved savings for taxpayers of around $165 billion by terminating wasteful contracts and improper payments, workforce reductions and regulatory savings. The Left’s hollow criticism is directed mostly toward the fact that DOGE has focused on terminating worldwide contracts for “energy and climate advisory services” and gender-focused curricula and projects

President Trump’s rollback of Biden’s anti-growth regulations and tax policies has boosted business confidence, and early signs indicate a recovery in manufacturing and energy employment. The administration’s rapid response—cutting red tape, unleashing domestic energy, and restoring fiscal discipline—has signaled a return to common sense in economy as well.

A cornerstone of President Trump’s “America First” economic agenda has been his much-discussed tariff policy as a strategic tool to protect American industries from unfair foreign competition and to revitalize domestic manufacturing. The US’s trade deficit amounts to more than one trillion dollars annually and needs revision. While critics argue that tariffs are raising prices and function like a hidden tax on consumers, also inviting retaliatory tariffs that hurt U.S. exporters and could distort global supply chains, Trump’s tariff strategy reflects a shift from blind and—in many cases—one-sided trade arrangements toward more balanced and just economic realism. While this strategy must be managed with careful precision and its results remain to be seen, the hasty condemnation by most media owes more to ideological ill-will rather than factual critique.

Renunciation of Truth - How Long Can We Survive a Reality Based on Falsehoods?

Truth is the acknowledgment of reality—the recognition of how things truly are. At its core, truth is grounded in the first law of logic: the law of identity. A = A. A thing is itself and nothing else. Reality is simply that which exists.

For centuries, truth has been central to Western thought. Despite human imperfection, fallibility, and conflict, truth has remained a vital value—a means of aligning human judgment with reality. Essential fields like jurisprudence and science depend on truth, implicitly assuming it in their practices. Beyond these, individuals of good character in politics, the media, and civil society have persistently upheld the value of truth. For the faithful believer, truth culminates in the Christian proclamation that truth is the way and the path of life.

Yet, falsehoods have always been wielded for personal and political gain. Across civilizations and political systems—whether authoritarian, totalitarian, or democratic—history is replete with examples of such manipulation. We all know this from experience.

In our contemporary era, however, the distortion of reality and the implantation of falsehoods seem to have reached unprecedented levels. Where has the "love for truth" gone? How have ideological prejudice, political power, personal vanity, and self-importance come to overshadow decency, honesty, fairness, and humanity? Do people no longer understand—or perhaps never have—that truthfulness and truth-seeking are based on moral grounds? That no society can long survive without them? Don’t they grasp that justice, righteousness, honesty, and decency are merely the visible manifestations of truth in our social and political lives?

I addressed the moral and intellectual implications of truth in my 2016 blog entry Truth in Life and Politics (available here).

Beyond educational shortcomings that distort the very notion of truth, I want to highlight two reasons for the alarming magnitude of reality distortion we face today. One is as old as humankind; the other is relatively new and particularly pernicious to our civilization. Both, however, converge to form the disastrous reality we now confront.

First, human malice and wickedness—those timeless aspects of human nature—have reached new levels of harm. While human nature remains unchanged, contemporary technologies, the proliferation of media, and the pervasive use of social media enable unprecedented manipulation and denigration.

The four years of Donald Trump’s presidency saw the rise of delusions perpetuated by corrupt politicians, media giants, and tech companies like Facebook and Twitter. I have discussed at length the evil influence of the U.S. Democratic Party, arguably the most destructive political force in the Western hemisphere in our lifetime. The RINOs and anti-Trump factions within the Republican Party are close behind. These forces make left-wing movements in Europe and Latin America seem relatively mild in comparison. I’ve written about this vile group repeatedly (for example, here).

A recent example is the misrepresentation of the January 6 Capitol riot. The rioters, it turns out, were largely unarmed, and the FBI appears to have orchestrated much of the chaos to discredit Trump supporters and pressure Republican politicians into abandoning efforts to challenge the election results. The identity of the security officer who shot unarmed protester Ashley Babbitt remains undisclosed. Contrary to earlier reports, the Capitol officer purportedly killed by a protester with a fire extinguisher had died of natural causes, as confirmed by his family. Additionally, the Russian collusion narrative pushed by the media turned out to be unfounded, despite relentless coverage. Trump’s attempts to improve relations with Russia were painted as evidence of him being a Russian agent.

Similarly, attempts to impeach Trump on baseless charges ended in failure. While left-wing groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter engaged in months of rioting, Democrats tried to paint right-wing extremism as the nation’s primary threat. Even traditional Christian values now face condemnation as "extremist." Election Integrity Laws are falsely labeled "voter suppression," and President Biden absurdly claimed that voter suppression is the greatest challenge the U.S. has faced since the Civil War. This claim persists despite evidence of irregularities following the 2020 election. Doubts about voter fraud are dismissed as conspiracy theories, yet the monstrous idea is that we should blindly trust the system.

The list of lies, distortions, and falsehoods could go on endlessly. One thing is clear: the majority of the political apparatus, the media, and security agencies have become machines of deception. These ideologically subverted institutions are willing to violate the law and morality to push the left’s progressive agenda.

The second reason for the ongoing reality distortion is arguably more dangerous. It concerns the increasing delusion of human capability, driven by hubris. Our era is marked by an unprecedented anthropocentrism—the belief that human beings can transcend natural limitations. This mindset fuels the creation of fake realities that ultimately harm us.

No longer is truth about understanding the natural world—what nature dictates to humankind, and the limits she sets. Instead, we are now driven to overcome these boundaries. Social constructivism manufactures false realities, creating an environment of fake authenticity.

Astonishing Media Double Standard on Ukraine

The murder of Boris Nemtsov, a liberal Russian politician and avid critic of President Putin, back in February, caused a significant outcry and was covered extensively by virtually all mainstream media in the West. Without substantial evidence, from the beginning, the murder of the politician culminated in speculations about the Russian Government's involvement.

When somebody murdered three Ukrainian critics of the incumbent president Poroshenko within a few days in April, no such outcry could be heard. The assassination of Oleh Kalashnikov, a former Ukrainian member of parliament and vocal critic of the ruling administration, and the murders of opposition journalists Oles Buzina and Sergei Sukhob went by more or less uncommented. In previous blogs, I've already made clear that Poroshenko was a stooge installed by Washington and Berlin in a coup in the course of the so-called Maidan Revolution in the spring of 2014. Barely any media reported on these events, and the silence of the media in conjunction with the lack of comments from the US state department and EU foreign ministries and NATO, OSCE, and EU representatives speaks volumes. It gives indirect testimony to the West's collaboration in Ukraine's Maidan coup and the ensuing destabilization and radicalization.

Aside from the double standard in reporting and commenting, which violates the primary principle for news outlets to report factually and objectively, it demonstrates how most of the media degenerate into mere propaganda instruments for whatever policies suit their ideological agenda.
